Music Software

Here is a list of programs for manipulating music text files - they run online, and do not need to be downloaded.

Are these pages safe?

The following links take you to pages which ask for input, and you will paste in (or type) letters representing music notes. The pages do a few calculations, and display new note-letters (e.g. transposed). The pages do not access your files - you paste in the text. You might find that the Norton virus-checker flags these as unsafe, but they are in fact fine. They run OK on iPad, iPhone, Android, and with other virus-checkers.

Chord Lifter

Use it here:
http://mikeparr.info/chord-lifter.html
Some chord sheets have [embedded] chords, as in
[A]This is [G]my [C]song
etc...
Personally I find these hard to follow when playing. The program converts the above to:
A G C
This is my song
etc...

Transposer

Use it here:
http://mikeparr.info/transposer.html
Transposes chord+lyric documents, as in:
A G C
This is my song
A E7 A
It is not very long

If you request transposing this (it is in A) from A to B, the prgram produces:
B A D
This is my song
B F#7 B
It is not very long

Simple Guitar Tab Maker

Use it here:
http://mikeparr.info/guitar-tab-maker.html
Converts notes written out as string+fret numbers into guitar tablature.
